Pass the
Helm On

Dave and Julia believe the water gets handed down, not gated off. This is where Dockside gives Charleston back its harbor.

The Helm Program

Every kid in Charleston lives ten minutes from the water; most have never steered on it. The Helm Program is Dave and Julia's answer: mentorship days where young people take the wheel with a licensed captain beside them, learn the harbor's rules and its history, and see a version of themselves in dress whites. First-job pathways onto the deck follow for the ones who keep showing up.

Veterans on the water

Dockside partners with Lowcountry veterans organizations for days on the harbor: no agenda, no speeches, just the water doing what it does. Veterans with maritime experience get first look at crew roles on the network page.

Gift your miles, launch a kid

Your Floater Miles can become someone's first time on the water. Guests will be able to gift earned miles toward Helm Program youth cruise seats: the party you threw becomes the reason a kid sees Charleston from the harbor for the first time. Coming to the miles page.

Mentoring, the Dockside way

This is not a charity page with stock photos. It is the same crew, the same boats, and the same golden hour, shared. If you run a youth program, a school, or a veterans group in the Lowcountry, the wheelhouse door is open.
